After breakfast, check out and travel back to Accra, stopping en route at Elmina Castle (St. George’s Castle), built by the Portuguese in 1482, where you’ll learn about its role in the trans-Atlantic slave trade and the complex relationships between European traders and African communities. After lunch on your own, drive through the multicoloured centre of the administrative and commercial capital of Benin to view its many statues and monuments. 

Return to the hotel for overnight.
